Student Records and Privacy
USF is required to maintain the confidentiality of student records. Both the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the Florida statutes protect the privacy of student records. Faculty are encouraged to review the USF Policy prior to teaching classes.
- Physical security of student records/information in faculty/staff offices: see page 22 of Student Records Manual.
- Limitations on student handling of grade roster/grade change forms: “No student is authorized to hand-carry or deliver signed Academic Regulations Committee Petition Forms, Grade Rosters, Grade Change Forms, or other similar documents detailing significant updates to the student’s own record.” (page 22 of Student Records Manual).
