Selected Topics Courses

FMHI has been approved to offer undergraduate (MHS 4931) and graduate (MHS 6900) classes designated as Selected Topics. The content focus of a selected topics course may vary as long as the course material is appropriate to offer under the MHS prefix. The purpose of the Selected Topics designation courses is to offer a course only once to respond to a special need or to offer on a trial basis to determine if there is sufficient student interest to add the course permanently.

A course can only be offered as a Selected Topics three times. The faculty member must then submit a new course application to the Undergraduate or Graduate Councils.

Any faculty member who would like to offer a Selected Topics course must obtain approval of their Department Chair and approval of the FMHI Curriculum Committee for both the specific topic as well as their own qualifications to teach that selected topic. If the course is to be offered as an elective within a degree, certificate, or other course of study at USF, the Academic Program Coordinator of the relevant program must review the course to determine that it meets the program’s objectives and is appropriate for that curriculum.
