FMHI's Assistant Professor Bill Kearns, who has been appointed Associate Editor of the journal Gerontechnology The journal is the first international scientific journal devoted to the domain of gerontechnology. Papers in each issue reflect the broad categories of interest in this field related to health, housing, mobility, communication, leisure and work.

FMHI's Department of Mental Health Law and Policy receives grant to evaluate a Healthy Marriage Demonstration program Colleen Clark and Scott Young will work with Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JFCS) of Sarasota, Florida to implement a demonstration project targeting low-income, unwed expectant or new parents in the Manatee & Sarasota County area of Florida. Clark and Young are also collaborating with another Sarasota agency, First Step, to evaluate its Mothers and Infants Transitional Living Program, and along with Kathleen Moore, another MHLP faculty member, are collaborating locally with Mental Health Care, Inc. to evaluate their assertive community treatment team for individuals with severe mental illnesses who have been chronically homeless.
