Diversity Initiatives

King Davis

Dr. King Davis

Diversity is an inclusive concept reflecting gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, race, ethnicity, disability, physical characteristics, social class, language, and consumer/family perspectives. FMHI embraces diversity in all aspects of its work. We encourage alternative perspectives on our work, including the perspectives of persons with mental, addictive and developmental disorders and their family members. It is our expectation that diverse perspectives be evident in our research and training activities as well as in our administrative and organizational processes. A guiding principle is to assure that our work is culturally and linguistically appropriate as well as representative of the diverse views of our constituents. Because we recognize that diversity has an important impact on access to and outcomes of behavioral healthcare services, we are vigilant to diverse populations and perspectives and continually strive to increase our own cultural competence, with particular attention given to the diverse populations living in the state of Florida.
