Undergraduate Minor in Behavioral Healthcare

Behavioral health problems, including mental illness and substance abuse, are among the greatest public health challenges facing our communities. Students enrolling in the minor will be exposed to treatment approaches as well as to issues related to the organization, financing, delivery, and outcomes of behavioral health services.

The minor in Behavioral Healthcare is available to students interested in pursuing careers in the field of behavioral healthcare in conjunction with any undergraduate major. It should be particularly beneficial to students majoring in psychology, gerontology, criminology, nursing, social work, and sociology.

Combining academic and experiential learning, the minor provides students with information and practical experience in behavioral healthcare services.

Students must complete 15 semester credit hours (12 required and 3 elective credits) including a field placement if they have not completed a practical field experience in conjunction with another major in a related field.
